IT Journal 1999
        Call for Papers

The IT Journal is a publication of the Instructional Technology Program at the University of Virginia's Curry School of Education. Sponsored by Professor Mable Kinzie, the IT Journal began in 1993 as a collaborative effort among faculty and students to provide a forum for sharing scholarship within the Instructional Technology community.

This year we are extending an invitation for submissions to the IT Journal to other instructional technology programs along the East coast including: Florida State, Lehigh University, George Mason, Penn. State, PITT, V-Tech, and the University of Georgia. Eventually, we would like to expand the invitation to programs throughout the United States. Our intent is to become a collaborative publication venue for talented IT students across the country.

We encourage the contribution of articles pertaining to the field of Instructional Technology or Instructional Design. Previous issues, for example, have included articles on topics such as copyright issues, virtual environments, technology in education, and emerging trends in instructional design, and Web-based instruction.

Submission Guidelines

The submission deadline is:
       March 1, 1999


    Manuscripts

  • Articles must be current (written within the past six months)
  • Between six and 10 pages double-spaced
  • APA (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association 4th edition, 1995).
  • Include an abstract of 25 words on a separate page.
  • The name(s), affiliation(s), address(es), email, and phone number(s) should be included in a separate cover page, but not appear elsewhere in the manuscript.
  • You may submit the article on floppy disk or electronically:
    • As an MS Word document, a text document or, as an HTML file.

Send your article submission as an attached document or via regular mail to:

If accepted for publication

  • Two copies of your article on a 3 1/2" computer disk clearly labeled with your name and hardware (PC or Mac).
  • One version as an MS Word document
  • One version as an HTML file.

    • You will also have the option to provide color images and graphics for the Web version of your article in the IT Journal.

      Review Process
    • Articles are submitted blind to the IT Journal Review Team, recent alumni from the University of Virginia IT Program.
    • Your name, addresses and phone-numbers will only be seen by the editors.
    • The review process will take approximately four weeks.

    Copyright to works published in the IT Journal belongs to the author:
    Any article published in the IT Journal may republished in print or in another online venue, under the condition that you give the publisher the right to "store and archive" your article in the IT Journal.
